📢 New health information available through the NHS App

We would like to let our patients know about a new service being introduced across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

From 13 August 2026, patients will be able to access their Patients Know Best (PKB) Personal Health Record directly through the NHS App.

PKB is separate from the usual NHS App services and allows patients to access information from their hospital/secondary care records. Depending on the services available to you, this may include health information relating to your hospital care.

You can also use PKB to add your own information, such as symptoms, measurements or other health information, which can help support your care and self-management.

This service complements the existing Patient Engagement Portal (PEP+), which provides digital appointment information, letters and communications, as well as the primary care information already available through the NHS App.

What do I need to do?

Nothing — there is no action required from your GP surgery.

If you have questions about accessing or using your PKB record, please contact the Patients Know Best support team at help@patientknowbest.com or speak to your clinical team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The service is being introduced across participating NHS Trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria and will continue to develop as more services become available.
