Please note you can also use the email address lscicb-gp.lythamroadprescriptions@nhs.net for any prescription enquiries. or use our online administration query system Contact us about your request (accurx.com)
Please ensure all written requests include the full drug name and dosage you are currently taking, alternatively, you may use the tear off slip attached to your previous prescription.
Prescriptions will generally be available for collection after a minimum of 48 hours. Please be aware that weekends and bank holidays may affect this time.
Medication when travelling abroad
By law, the NHS ceases to have responsibility for the medical care of patients when they leave the UK. In addition, GPs are not required by their terms of service to provide prescriptions for the treatment of a condition that is not present and may arise while the patient is abroad.
The NHS does accept responsibility for supplying ongoing medication for temporary periods abroad of up to 3 months. However, if a person is going to be abroad for more than 3 months, then they are only entitled (at NHS expense) to a sufficient supply of regular medication in order to get to their destination, where they should the find an alternative supply of that medication.
Medication Reviews
patients on repeat medication should have yearly reviews, for more information please see the link below

Blister Packs
Blister packs are designed for patients that are on complex medication, and not for convenience or a reminder for people that may forget to take their medication, as medication in blister packs will not physically remind patients, they need to take medication. It is up to the patient and or their carer/guardian etc to set reminder for medication to be taken, there is also Medical Administration Record charts that can be used, one example being Microsoft Word - Med_Log_2021.docx (familycaregiversonline.net) to help log medication when taken, to ensure that no further doses are taken/given until the appropriate time.
There is also the issue of the amount of plastic these trays use, it is much better to purchase a weekly pill organiser, available online or directly from pharmacies, you can put your own medication in these to help you in that way. Of course, please be aware that all medication must be always kept out of reach of children and vulnerable patients.
Pharmacies are not commissioned nor funded to make up blister packs and do so at their own expense as a gesture of goodwill.
Unfortunately, we are unable to take any further requests for medication to be issued in blister pack form, if the surgery or the pharmacy deem that this will benefit the patient, then arrangements will be made for them.
thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Items we are unable to prescribe
there has been a decision made locally, that we will no longer prescribe Rubefacients: Ibuprofen gel, Deep Heat, Deep Freeze, Ralgex, etc.
unfortunately we will not be able to re-prescribe any items you have previous been prescribed unfortunately, inline with NHS guidance, however you are stil able to purchase these over the counter if required.
Under new prescribing guidelines, we are unable to give medication to delay periods for travel or sport under prescription.
We can also no longer provide a private prescription for this.
If you would like to postpone your period, you can visit a pharmacy website by searching online for ‘delay period pill’, have an online counselling session with a pharmacist and order the medication privately from them.
